TDCP Mosques
Root * Destinations * Famous Mosques

Four Mosques located in Punjab are unparalleled worldwide.  Two of these mosques are the largest mosques in the world, Badshahi Mosque, located in Lahore, and Faisal Mosque, located in Islamabad.  The other two are Mosque Wazir Khan Located in Lahore, and Jamia Mosque, located in Bhoong District, Saddiqabad, known for the wealth of beautifully detailed decorations they are adorned with.

Architecture done by the Mughals is known all over the world for its unique design and features and it is in Lahore where you can find this awesome construction in abundance.  These sites, not only depict impressive Mughal art, but also display a myriad of subcontinent traditions.

Lahore is the cultural and academic apex of the country. The abundance of historical monuments exhibits an elegant architectural charm whose magnificence can not be lost over time. Most people coming to Lahore, and others who reside in Lahore, are well aware of monuments like Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Shalimar Garden, Lahore Museum etc., however  many historical treasures, not well known, or preserved, are hidden in unknown corners and recesses of the city.

These historical assets, abundantly scattered through out the city, and the country as well, date back to the Mughal period. It is always a treat to stumble upon one of these buildings and excites in those aware of their significance a passion to learn more about the people, their beliefs and culture. Meticulous care was put into every aspect when these buildings were constructed.  Even those who have no interest in archeology can’t but appreciate the beauty and fine detail of these works of art.

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab has decided to bring forth before the public eye the annals of history. We want to take tourists on an exploration of these hidden treasures so they can understand, learn, and enjoy Pakistan’s rich heritage. At the same time we want to increase public awareness about an ancient past, which is nearing extinction, so that we can preserve these invaluable assets for future generations.
