Cholistan Desert Rally

The TDCP14th Cholistan Desert Rally 2019 concluded successfully on 17th February 2019 by the closing ceremony held at Derawar, Cholistan. The Mega Motor Sports event was organized by The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) under the patronage of Punjab Government. This was the 14th successful edition of the desert rally. This is the event that all the eminent rally drivers across Pakistan wait for to test their skills. The Cholistan Desert rally since 2005 has been the pioneer motor-sports event in Pakistan. Every year conventionally the rally consisted of a challenging track for the rally drivers. 120 enthusiastic rally drivers participated in this mega event. As per the schedule of the rally, there were 09 categories for the drivers including Women Category. Yet again Nadir Magsi claimed the crown and retained his title in the 14th TDCP Cholistan Desert Rally in Prepared-A Category.

Rally was started with the qualifying round followed by the stock category and Prepared Category competitions. Total track was around 460KM with 02 mid-points at Bijnot Fort and Jamgarh Fort. TDCP and Cholistan Development Authority prepared a thrilling track with proper route marking for the rally drivers that was acknowledged by many drivers at the end of the race.

Raja YassirHumayunSarfraz, Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Punjab with H.E Mr. Martin Kobler, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan and Mr. AhmerMallick, Managing Director Tourism inaugurated the Prepared Category race and flagged-off the race.

H.E Mr. Martin Kobler, flagged-off many cars and wish them good luck for the competition. He has been center of attention for the participants and the spectators as he was very welcoming for the people who took selfies with him.

Moreover, efforts made by Mr. Nayyar Iqbal, Commissioner Bahawalpur, has been significant for the pre-event arrangements.Mr. Tahir Masood Khan, General Manager-OPS and Mr. Fayyaz Ahmed (Manager-Events & International Tourism) along with all TDCP team worked untiringly throughout the Rally. Sh. Muhammad Ijaz (TDCP) and his team played vital role in the development of rally route.

Prize distribution ceremony was held on the eve of 17th February. Trophies and souvenirs were given to the winners and organizers. Mr. Nadir Magsi retained his title in Category Prepared-A by winning the 14th edition of the TDCP Cholistan Desert Rally 2018 that concluded near the Derawar Fort.
