The Tourism Development Corproation of Punjab organized 12th Cholistan Desert Rally 2017 from 9 to 12 February 2017 .The event was successfully carried out with the support and guide lines of Commissioner Bahawalpur Division and active role of District Government Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim-Yar-Khan. The Event was also supported by the Houbara Foundation International Pakistan , Bahawalpur 4x4 Club, Pakistan Army, Punjab Rangers, Punjab Police and other stakeholders of the  Cholistan International Desert Rally. The event was meant to promote Cholistan’s culture and heritage. “Every year it also brings economic opportunities for the locals and serves as a platform to promote the message of inter-provincial harmony.

This year the event was taken off in the vast desert on Thursday touching for the first time the boundaries of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan. Unlike the two action packed days over the years, the 12th edition of the rally was a four day event. 114 vehicle and drivers including women and foreign participated in the rally. The contestants were divided into Two Categories (Prepared and Stock) and contested in the event according to the itinerary. The 62 Stock category participants covered 210 Km and 52 Prepared Category participants covered more than 460 Km.  The participant gone past the historical forts Derawar, Nawan Kot, Khairgarh, Dingarh, Maujgarh Marot, Mahargarh, and Jamgarh .

A robust presence of spectators included tourist from across the country witnessed the Pakistan’s biggest motor sport extravaganza .The venue was abuzz with spectators witnessing the cultural night with several singers, including folk performers, and enjoying a spectacular display of fireworks.

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab made extended arrangements by setting up a tourist village ,Food street and series of festivities during the event.
