The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) was established in 1987 with an objective to develop & promote tourism in the province. Tourism industry in Pakistan has experienced various difficulties in finding professionals and skilled persons far its growth. To bridge the gap, TDCP established its academy of tourism in 1988: Two batches of Tourist Guide courses were passed out during 1988-89. The demand from the trade indicates high potential for an Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management planned at a bigger scare to train personnel for the industry.
TDCP - Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, established in 1996 is the second institute of its kind in Pakistan. The major objective of institute is to impart vocational and professional knowledge to the personnel attached to the sector. The training programs are designed to cover various levels of executives and workers engaged in this field. These are expected to develop the tourism related activities in their respective organizations. Thereby the corporation will meet one of the objectives of its creation.
