Daman means center and Koh means hill. In the Margalla Hills north of Islamabad there is Daman-e-Koh (the center of the mountain). It is very short drive from the city only 15 to 20 minutes from Islamabad but when you reach there you will feel you are deep in the woods. Visitors can travel up the hill to the center of the mountain and see the forest below, as well as the whole of Islamabad.

Getting There
Because of Daman-e-Koh’s close proximity to Islamabad taxi cabs drivers are delighted to take visitors to the park at a nominal cost, and cabs are available for return trips to Islamabad in the parking lots.
If you are in Islamabad be sure to visit this forest area where nature abounds, the view is marvelous and the atmosphere is so peaceful and tranquil. With so many places to venture, and with wildlife that will entertain you for hours, it’s a must see for all tourists.

Attractions
There are two vantage points north and south. Both places have ample parking facilities, a large expanse of forest cleared for picnickers, large lush green grass carpeted areas, newly cemented walking paths, as well as benches and tables dispersed throughout. Maintenance of the whole area is superb with beautiful flower beds, large well maintained areas to sit and enjoy the view, as well as clean maintained washrooms and ample room on the cemented paths for wheelchairs.
On the north side there is a refreshment stand with snacks, candy, and drinks. On the south side is a restaurant where visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) upgraded the restaurant and introduced electric powered cars that provide tourists with a relaxing and enjoyable transport to and from the parking areas. The south side has a panoramic view of Islamabad, the Faisal Mosque, as well as Rawal Lake, and Rawawlpindi in the far distance. From this vantage point it is easy to see how modern and organized Islamabad is with its green fairways and straight streets.
Pir Sohawa further up the mountain has fine dining serving breakfast, lunch and dinners.
An enjoyable hiking path connects the zoo park located at the base of Margalla Hills to Daman-e-Koh with an information board providing basic information about Islamabad.
