Gorgeous Kalash, is located in the magnificent mountains of the Hindukush, and forms the northwest borders between Pakistan and Afghanistan.  Some of the world’s most spectacular mountains surround Kalash to include; Tirich Mir, at an altitude of 7708m,with glacier treks to explore, Noshaq, 7492m, Istoro Nal, 7403m and Saragrar,7338m. The lowest pass to this area is Lowari Top, which is over 10,000 feet in attitude!
 
It seems that when Alexander occupied this area some of his army along with their families stayed on after he and the others picked up and left.  It’s not surprising when you look at the surroundings.  The people are described as warm and friendly like the mountains that they live in.


 
Attractions
In this mountainous area close to Kalash, at Shandur Top, is the world’s highest polo ground. Each year an annual international polo tournament is played here where fans come from all over the world participate in the spectacular event. Read more about Shandur here.
