The people of Lahore have a passion for festivals and festivities. In the middle of February when the nippy winter yields  to the pleasant spring season Lahorites invite tourists worldwide to join in and mark the advent of spring. The Basant Kite Festival, held in Lahore, heralds in spring with thousands of multicoloured decorated kites flying above roof tops throughout the city.  Over the years it has become such a major tourist attraction people flock from countries worldwide to participate in this unique occasion. Traditional music, festivals, and delicious cuisine is celebrated with passionate kite flying competitions that rouse jubilation and a rare frenzy of excitement.  Night kite flying under search lights while performers beat drums, play music, and dance, converts the spring festivities into a unique carnival that keeps participants coming back each year.
